A new year for us all and my WI is looking forward to a more settled existence for our monthly meetings. Tonight’s meeting was well attended and there were new members queueing up to join. Our speaker gave an autobiographical talk about life on a local farm during World War II and the growth of a haulage business in pre-motorway days. It was interesting to hear about the activities in the immediate locality which were playing a vital role in the defence of the country and on the warfront. The President described the new rules for our monthly competitions, arrangements for the post- Christmas theatre trip and future county federation events. Notice was given of the date of the meeting to form hopefully a new WI to meet in the town on a Tuesday morning and some members volunteered to go along to help. We heard that the singing group which meets on Thursdays has christened itself Ladies Out Loud and is going from strength to strength.
