This morning I received my December Bucks WI Newsletter not for 2018 which would have been late but for 2016! It was proudly date-stamped 23.11.16 so you are in the clear, girls at Stuart Lodge. I am informed by Google that an average adult garden snail can travel 0.047 kilometres in an hour so in two and a quarter years the creature could have covered around 600 miles. The postal system is considerably slower than snail mail in covering 29 miles from High Wycombe.QED.
We have enjoyed two craft afternoons since I last entered anything on the blog. Progress is being made on flashy evening bags for the Annual Council meeting competition and ideas are being mulled over for the WI pennant.
The book group enjoyed its annual tea party on St Valentine’s Day when members were tempted into eating far too much cake than was good for them. We had read “Gillespie and I” by Jane Harris which sparked a lot of discussion as the author had left the reader to decide whether the teller of the story was guilty or not of the crime. Some readers found the novel tedious but others had enjoyed it. The main trouble was that no one liked any of the characters. The period setting in Glasgow was well described and there were amusing situations in the story but the court trial was very detailed making the book longer than it needed to be.
